Practising sales - The Glitter Mermaid stall
Becca Steele, an HND Jewellery graduate at City of Glasgow was interested in gaining more experience in selling her jewellery and her products out there! Since Bridge 2 Business is all about giving practical experience to students that seek to become more entrepreneurial, we were able to help with her goal. By providing support through the Bridge 2 Business grant, Becca was able to secure a 2-day stall at the Art on the Exchange in the Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow and sell her pieces!
Below you can see photos from Becca's stall and also some words on her experience:
My business 'The Glitter Mermaid' creates unusual and bespoke jewellery that is designed from inspiration taken from the sea and small coastal towns around the borders of Scotland. I am a newly graduate student from City of Glasgow college and have completed my NC through to HND in Jewellery design allowing me to handcraft all of the pieces myself.
The B2B grant allowed me to participate in a local craft fair in Glasgow where I got to experience selling my jewellery to the public and getting feedback in person about price/styles/presentation etc. It also allowed me to meet other designers and craftspeople who made the experience even more enjoyable and in turn helped with networking for my business.
From this experience I have learned a lot about selling to the public and gaining confidence when making sales. This is something I had very little experience in but I feel I have improved because of this opportunity. It also allowed me to gauge my pricing and what products done better than others so I can work on creating sellable jewellery that will make profit in the future.
