Who was your biggest hero when you were younger?
Si Scott, an illustrator. I love his work and his dedication. I’m a huge illustration fan and love watching peoples design process.
What initially attracted you to enterprise?
I think I just fell into it, I just produced an event that I would go to and I felt it was something that students and up and coming creatives needed to take their work to a professional level.
Can you tell us about the first £10 you ever made?
I think it actually was from working in a supermarket. I didn't like the job, but it certainly motivated me to move in the creative sector and do a job I actually enjoyed.
What has been your biggest challenge so far with your business?
Building up connections in Scotland, only moving here two years ago I knew no one, making a name for yourself and establishing an event with 0 contacts was hard.
Who is it that keeps you going through any tough times?
My girlfriend Emma, she does help me through tough times, often through food and motivational speeches!
What is it that gets you out of your bed in the morning?
Coffee. No, actually wanting to help people give their work exposure and looking forward to meeting people and seeing their work.
How do you define success?
Working on something meaningful and that your passionate about. Which both challenges you but allows you the opportunity to find time to give back and work on personal projects.
Where do you see your business in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully in other parts of Scotland, and perhaps renaming it and growing into a conference (think bigger)!
If you could give your “teenage self” one piece of advice, what would it be?
I’m still a teenager! But I tell him to get off the computer and go talk to real people even if it's on the phone, that phone call can get you a yes or a no in seconds. Plus to keep a cool head when everyone else is losing theirs.
If you could have any 1 person on your business contact list who would that person be and why?
Bit cliche but maybe Richard Branson. I would like to just sit down and have a drink with him. He seems like he’d be a good person to have a drink with! I’m sure he’d be insightful but also would have some great stories to tell!
