CDM Lettings
Aberdeen, United Kingdom

I founded CDM Lettings in late 2010 and have grown the business to where it is now. Managing upwards of 240 properties and employing 4 full time members of staff. There have been hard and challenging times throughout but I enjoy every challenge.

60-Second Interview

Who was your biggest hero when you were younger?
It may sound cheesy, but my parents. They showed me how working hard at something you enjoy can be very rewarding financially and emotionally.
What is the best thing about being your own boss?
Being in complete control of my career, doing the things I like and not hating Monday mornings.
Can you tell us about the first £10 you ever made?
I went to my local car garage and asked for some of their old posters of cars, I then sold these at school for 50p - £1 to my friends.
What has been your biggest challenge so far with your business?
Dealing with growth. Taking on my first Employee and making sure they were the right person to continue on the high level of service my clients expect
Who is it that keeps you going through any tough times?
Laughter, optimism and determination
What is the one thing you are most proud of?
The fact my bank manager now comes to meet me at the office
Favourite quote or mantra that you use?
Just get it done!
Where do you see your business in five years time?
I believe CDM Lettings will have reached a point where I will have time to seek other business opportunities, possibly with a branch in Edinburgh or something completely different.
If you could give your ‘teenage self’ one piece of advice, what would it be?
Failure is a great learning opportunity, don’t be afraid of it or let it knock your enthusiasm.
If you could have one person in your business contact list who would that be and why?
This is a hard question, I would have to say Richard Branson, not really for a business contact but more for a good chat, I believe he would be an interesting person to go for a beer with.
