Working life for me revolves around organsing events, arts workshops and creating artwork. Workshops with schools, community groups, social enterprises, charities, and the general public have all provided invaluable experience.
Since graduating, I have exhibited in several museums, galleries and other venues throughout Scotland and England. I have also curated several group exhibitions, each time featuring over 40 artists.
WHAT I HOPE TO ACHIEVE FROM BRIDGE 2 BUSINESS
Knowing from personal experience how challenging a career in the arts can be, I am keen to encourage upcoming individuals similar to myself to flourish in Scotland. Using my first-hand experience of the creative industries, particularly Glasgow’s cultural scene, I hope to highlight opportunities, guide to the best of my ability, and provide support and encouragement.
I look forward to making new connections and learning from others within the Bridge 2 Business network.
WHAT MAKES ME STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD?
Working hard at Ayr College won me the Student of the Year award for 2 consecutive years, and my college portfolio secured my place at Glasgow School of Art to study BA (Hons) Visual Communication. My ambition to continue to apply myself, and direct my skills towards achievements of value drives me forward. It is important for me to use my own initiative in my career and create opportunities for myself and others. As well as developing my practice as a visual artist, I am also very conscious of actively supporting the art scene in Glasgow, and increasing opportunities for people to engage with the arts and express their creative skills. I try to be as generous with my time as I can, and continually undertake voluntary work which has various social benefits.
