Bridge 2 Business have a once in a lifetime opportunity for you

The Erasmus Plus Programme, "An Entrepreneurial Journey" is a joint project undertaken collaboratively by the Dutch Foundation of Innovation and Young Enterprise Scotland.

It is designed to offer the expansion of Youth Enterprise and Employability into new European markets. The programme provides College Learners and recent Graduates the opportunity to learn from European partners through a three-week work placement in the Netherlands, with travel & accommodation arranged, all expenses paid, and food & culture money and support provided through the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work.

What will I gain from taking part?

Taking part in the programme helps you to develop personally and professionally; you will gain valuable international experience, broaden your horizons, experience new cultures and discover new ways of working.

A recent Erasmus Plus student said about his experience: 'It was a really good opportunity to meet new people, network and enhance my future employability in Scotland. I am more able to cooperate with people from other backgrounds and cultures and I know much better my strengths and weaknesses.' Another Scottish student said:' I was able to travel and work independently. I stepped out of my comfort zone, but my skills and confidence have increased tremendously'. The Details

"An Entrepreneurial Journey" will run in October 2019, with a Bridge 2 Business Programme Executive coordinating logistic and pastoral support throughout the experience.

Departure to Holland: Estimated 5th October 2019 by plane from Edinburgh.

You will be assigned a work placement with a Dutch business that complements your current studies and gives you the opportunity to build practical skills to take forward into employment or your own business.

Rotterdam / Leiden

Where will I stay during the trip?
With family of the business, or in hotel / youth hostel. Appropriate accommodation will be sourced for each student

Will it cost me anything to take part?
No, all programmatic costs are paid for (including flights, accommodation, meals and sustenance and a personal allowance).

Do I need permission from my parents and the college to take part? No, if you are over 18 you do not need parental permission, you should discuss the opportunity with your Bridge 2 Business Programme Executive and your college tutor about how you can make the most of the trip to support your studies.

Who is eligible to take part?
You must be a student or recent graduate of West Lothian or Forth Valley College
You must be aged 18 - 24
You must be able to travel to Holland for 3 weeks in October 2019
You must have an in date passport by the time of departure to Holland
You must have the ability to send an update to CV to us by Monday 9th September

How will I get to Holland?
You will fly to Holland from Edinburgh Airport to Amsterdam
Onwards journeys to Leiden / Rotterdam will be arranged for each student. It would be expected of students to make their own journey to Edinburgh Airport.

Will anyone from my college or Bridge 2 Business be with me?
Bridge 2 Business Senior Programme Executive will be in Holland to support you during the trip.

Do I need a passport?
Yes, you need a full and valid passport to travel outside of the UK

I don't have a passport; can I get it funded as part of the trip?
No, we cannot cover the cost of any student obtaining or renewing a passport

Do I need to be a business student to take part?
No, absolutely not! We welcome applications from all curriculum's and courses. This is an opportunity to learn about business from the lens of your chosen industry.

How will you decide who goes?
It will be a competitive application process. Bridge 2 Business will work with West Lothian or Forth Valley College staff to select the students who show the most commitment and that they will benefit the most from the programme to represent their colleges on the programme.

Where will I work?
Each student will be assigned a business / internship to meet their own specific requirements

What will my job be?
As above

Can I do photography?
As above. If from a personal perspective, of course

Will I stay with other students?
Potentially - Halls of Residence, or other accommodation could be available

Will I work with other students?
Potentially - overseas students are involved in other Erasmus projects
