West Lothian College Students Get Inspired at Start Up Summit

Student from West Lothian college, Sulema Romero

Over a week ago the annual Start Up summit by Future X hit Edinburgh's Assembly Rooms. Recognised over the last seven years as one of the UK's leading events for entrepreneurship, Startup Summit provides a true immersion into the world of business and beyond. Their aim is to give the next generation of entrepreneurs the opportunity to engage with experts, build a network and gain valuable tools for long-term success.

This year Bridge2Business gave the opportunity to students to attend the event, and take further steps into getting the right support to start up or grow their businesses.

We caught up with West Lothian College student - Sulema Romero, who has been working closely with Bridge2Business to start up her own hospitality business, and got the lowdown on her first ever attendance to Start Up Summit!

1. What stage is your business at?

My business at very early stages, and I have been receiving amazing support from Lisa through Bridge2Business to take my ideas to the next level. I'm hoping to open a small hotel in Edinburgh, and really didn't know where to start. Bridge2Business has gave me so much guidance and support, and I feel I have some more direction now.

2. Had you ever attended any business or entrepreneurial event before attending Start Up Summit?

No, this was my first opportunity to visit a business event, and I was really excited to be given a ticket through Bridge2Business to attend the Start Up Summit. I was looking forward to meeting other like minded people, and learning so much more.

3. What were your first impressions when you arrived at Start Up Summit?

I was amazed at how busy it was, and the amount of support organisations that were there. I was really excited to speak to them, and also learn from the speakers.

4. What did you enjoy most about attending the event?

I felt very inspired and reassured that there is support out there for me to start my business. I also had the chance to meet some new people, who were also at the same stage as me.

5. Would you attend Start Up Summit again?

Yes, I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot. I was thankful to receive a ticket from Bridge2Business.
